Texas A&M Engineering and the Texas Partnership For Out Of School Time have opened applications for all public and private middle schools and youth serving organizations for Zero Robotics!
Zero Robotics is a 5-week summer program where students learn to control satellites aboard the International Space Station through a computer programming competition.
Finalists go head-to-head against teams from across the country, and astronauts referee the competition live from space.
All you need to participate is a team, an adult mentor and access to the internet. Zero Robotics is completely free (no pricey robotics kits to purchase) and funds are available to help cover the costs of travel for the final competition, team t-shirts, etc. Free training is provided to all team mentors in addition to a complete STEM curriculum that teaches:
- Leadership
- Teamwork
- Computer Programming
- Strategy
- Robotics and Aerospace Engineering
Teams comprising middle school students traditionally under-represented in STEM careers are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applications close Monday, April 18, 2016. All Texas Zero Robotics teams must run their 5-week program from June 13 – July 15, 2016, for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
