What is FOSS Saturdays?
FOSS Saturdays is an immersive, 2-day code-a-thon that will be held once a month. At FOSS Saturdays you can learn how to code or sharpen our skills. The program will last from June 2016 to October 2016.
How do I apply?
If you’re interested in being a part of the 2016 class, all you have to do is fill out this application. Let us know what you want to learn about coding and why you think coding is fun. This year, 27 students across the Houston area will be selected for the program. Please click here for the 2016 application.
What does it take to be a FOSS Saturdays code ninja?
A love for learning. If you’ve ever played with computers and just wondered how your favorite app was built or if you have an idea that you’ve been itching to see come to life, then this is for you! You just have to be curious and not afraid to ask questions!
Who is eligible?
High school girls are encouraged to apply. You should be entering the 9th grade when you apply. We will accept applicants all the way up to their last year in high school. We always get the question, are middle school students welcome? The answer is just apply. Our preference is for high school student, but we will consider your application, so don’t be afraid to apply.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to develop a web application, design a web page, develop your program in an 8-hour period, pitch to a group of judges who will rate your idea and your team!
Deadline: June 22, 2016.
